Best Gas Credit Cards on the Market
by: Tom Tessin

Every year it seems as if gas prices get higher and higher.  Even though there are solutions to save money by changing your driving habits, sometimes this isn’t enough.  What a lot of people don’t realize is that you’re able to save money by applying for a gas credit card.  A gas credit card is generally designed for someone who is self disciplined and Is able to spend responibily with credit cards.

If you sound like you’re this type of person, then we would highly recommend a gasoline credit card.   I did a little research and I chose two credti cards that seem to be the best best when it comes to saving at the pump.  While most gas credit cards are generally the same, there are some differences like rebates, APR rates, etc.

Discover® Open Road Card

When it comes to applying for gasoline credit cards, the Discover Open Road card seems to be the popular choice and I can understand why.  The Open Road card not only has one of the best APR rates in the nation, it’s accepted at all gas stations around the globe.  What you’ll find with most gas station credit cards is that it’s focused on one gas station.  This means that you can only use this card at one gas station itself.  While these type of cards do have it’s perks, it’s sometimes a lot nicer to have a card that can be used anywhere.

The Discover® Open Road Card has no annual fees and can offer up to five percent off per gallon.  Five percent is very high when it comes to comparing other types of credit cards that relate to the gasoline industry.  On top of it, Discover offers incredible customer support and a very friendly online account management system.  If you’re already a fan of the Discover credit cards, I’d highly recommend checking this card out.

Chase PerfectCard MasterCard®

Like the Discover card, the Chase Perfect Card is a very comparable card.  If you’re not a fan of Discover or you just want to look at other options, the Chase card comes in a close second.  The thing I like abou the Chase card is that it offers a very low APR rate that is comparable to the Discover card.  The only downfall is that you can only receive a rebate up to three percent compared to the Discover’s full five percent.

Wth the Chase card though, you can receive a six perecent rebate for the first sixty days.  Again, this card can be used at any gas station that’s near you.  The only difference you may find with this card is that  you can also save on other non-auto related purchases.  Typically, you can save up to one percent on these purchases.

These are just a few cards of the many that are out there that can save you money on gas fill-ups.  These are my opinions only and of course, yours will vary as well.  Do your research and you may find that there are other cards on the market that cater to your needs.
