How To Save With Gas Credit Cards
by: Tom Tessin

We all know by now that there’s a credit card for everything. Anything from a particular department store to credit cards for gas stations, which of course, our website focuses on. A lot of the times you apply for a credit card, you may apply just for the sake of saving a few bucks on your first purchase. What you don’t find out is that chances are that you will only be saving that hefty amount on your first purchase and find out down the road that you’ll only be able to save one to two percent tops on your bill.

Credit cards can start to pile up in your wallet but you have to step back and really look at what credit cards you really need. Chances are that you probably drive a car and shop at the grocery store weekly. If you don’t have a credit card to save money on these purchases, I strongly you suggest looking for credit cards that help you save money. This is where gas credit cards come in to the factor.

Let’s think about this scenario for a second. You pull up to the gas station and fill up your car with $30.00. You go into the station and hand the clerk $30.00. You walk away and think nothing of it. The thing is that you could be saving money and gaining interest on your money at the same time! Here’s how it would all work out –

You don’t pay til the end of the month

Instead of paying that clerk the $30, you can hold onto that $30 and let sit in a money market account that probably will collect around 5%. This is where you can collect interest. We all know it won’t be a lot but it’s a lot better than nothing!

Save money on each gallon

Let’s say from that $30, you filled up with 10 tanks at $3 a gallon. Let’s say you signed up for the BP Visa card and you can save 10% on the first 90 days. Now your price is only $2.70 a gallon, making the total $27!

Not only are you saving money, you are also making money on your money! It’s a win-win situation. As long as you’re disciplined with credit cards, you shouldn’t have a problem with these types of credit cards at all. Just think about it. If you can save $3 each time you fill up and you fill up once a week, that’s $156 in savings each year! That’s probably enough to pay off one months of car insurance.

Gas credit cards are great for the average driver. A lot of gas type credit cards out there also let you save on other avenues such as auto maintenance, oil changes, and many other purchases. You shouldn’t get the idea that these credit cards are just designed for gas related purchases. If you’re looking to save on gas and you’re disciplined with credit cards, then we highly suggest a gas credit card today!
