Saving Tips at the Gasoline Pump
by: Tom Tessin
The next time you go up to the gas pump, try and remember this article for reference because believe it or not, there are a few ways you can get a little extra gas when it comes to using the gasoline pump. Not only will some of these tips save you money, they can also save you a little time and energy. Below are a few helpful tips when it comes to saving a little bit extra at the gasoline pump.
Always drain the nozzle
If you haven’t noticed by now when you fill up at the gas tank, every time you fill up your car, you probably take the nozzle out right away and just let that gasoline drip to the ground. Did you know that extra gasoline usually fills up a half of cup usually? The best way to get the extra little bit of gas is to usually shake the nozzle inside your pump a few times really hard. This way that extra gas goes into your pump and not someone else’s. If you hold the nozzle at a 180 degree angle, you’ll be able to let all of that gas slip right into the pump. The next time you fill up make sure you remember this!
Can’t keep warm?
This is a tip that most people never think of. Have you ever pulled up to a gas pump and it’s really cold out and you just want to hop back in your car but the automatic nozzle pump doesn’t work? I’ve found that this happens all the time and believe it or not, gas stations will take the feature off the pumps so that people won’t hop back into the car.
Here’s the trick on how you can get around this. Every car has a gas cap. If you take this cap and jam it under the nozzle, you’ll find that it works just like an automatic gas pump! If you’re worried that it will not stop pumping, don’t worry because the pump will stop regardless. The next time you want to keep warm, don’t worry about the automatic pump not working or not because there’s always a way around it!
Remember these are just a few tips you can use at the gasoline pump. Your driving affects the way your gasoline burns; it’s up to you to read helpful gasoline saving tips. By doing so, you’ll be able to save even more money. The next time you fill up at the pump, make sure that you remember this article and hopefully you can stay warm and get that extra half cup of gas.
