Why Would I Choose a Gas Card for a Specific Gas Station?

In your search for the perfect gas card you may have come across the cards that have a very small network of gas stations where you can fill up, such as only being able to fill up at BP stations or something like that.  You may be wondering why you would choose such a gas card because it limits you on where you can get your gas.  For some people this is seen as a limitation but for others it is all they need.  You will need to explore the cards that are out there and what gas stations they may be limited to and then compare these specifics with your needs and see if they mesh.

If you are getting a gas card because you plan to travel and you want to be able to save wherever you go, you probably would not want to get one of the cards that only offer one brand of gas stations.  The reason for this is that you probably don’t know if you will be able to find this brand of gas station when you are traveling, and if you can’t than you have gotten the card and are paying any annual fees for no good reason.

If you have been searching for a gas card and you have found one that looks great but you are worried that you can only fill up at one place, it might not be that big of a deal if you don’t plan on traveling and you have one of the network gas stations near your home or office.  In fact, many people have these cards and they are able to save a bundle on their gas because the gas station is located conveniently and they never give it a second thought.  Many times it is these cards that offer great rebates, so it’s worth considering.

Only you can decide if you should choose a card that is only used at a specific gas station or stations in your area.  You want to be able to use the card at stations that are convenient but you also want to get the biggest rebate you can possibly get in the process.  If you find a card that will allow you to save big but also allow you to fill up at a convenient place, why not go for it? 

If you are only going to be filling up locally you can usually consider one of these cards as long as you have one of the gas stations in your neighborhood.  If you plan on traveling it is probably a better idea to get one of the cards that gives you a bigger network of gas stations to fill up at.  What type of card that will work for you will really depend on where you drive and where you need to fill up.  Consider the choice wisely so you can maximize the benefits of  a gas card.
